TORCHES

The first signs of portable lighting date back to ancient times when containers full of embers and torches soaked in grease and fat to improve their combustion were used.

The Greeks began to use oil lamps for widespread domestic use and ceremonies in religious temples and on altars.

During the Middle Ages, the use of candles made out of animal fat was much more widespread. The use of glass to protect the flame and the use of new liquid fuels were only a step further in the evolution of this type of appliances.

At the end of the XIXth century, the first torch supplied with dry batteries and handmade out of paper and fibre tubes, a bulb and a reflector was made. The torch soon became very popular.

With the passing of the years, significant technological advances have been incorporated that have allowed this product to evolve and to adapt to different shapes, sizes, uses and innovations.
